Please give us a short summary of your website?
A travel blog with news and information on the top travel destinations in Africa.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have worked in the Kenya tourism industry for sometime, and have great passion for promoting Africa travel
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This blog is my first website. It is all about Africa travel
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The blog aims at providing helpful information about African safaris and travel in general, hence the name Africa travel information, and the url african-safari-information.com
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
The insights and analysis I give are based on first-hand/insider information. All the content in the site is original and is aimed at helping the traveler in all his travel planning and decision making.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To grow the blog to be one of the most reputable information source on Africa travel, also capable of generating adequate income to sustain itself and any staff maintaining it.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
As yet, the blog is growing.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would get more people on board to help in generating helpful content for the blog.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I'm sure I would. I would probably move servers/hosts to a dedicated platform, but would cope with any pressure/demand
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None so far.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Being able to regularly post meaningful information considering other work commitments
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Posting in travel related forums.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
As yet, the traffic in not where I expected it to have been after slightly more than a year of being online.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Slightly above one year. And I don't plan to close it any time soon.
