Big Safari Services Limited Interview

By Interviewer at 06/22/10 18:00
Name of your website?

Big Safari Services Limited

Your name?

Issa Mtungi

Your Location (city, etc)

Nairobi

Please give us a short summary of your website?

This is the website that has all the information and programs regarding our best national parks, game reserves, and the highest mountains in Africa for climbers. We offer the best rates for Safaris to Masai Mara; we have the best rates for beach holidays in Mombasa and Zanzibar. We have the best rates for students and organized groups or study tours for University students from all over the world.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To help people of the world intending to travel to Kenya and Tanzania to access information and make the right decision about their vacations and related travels, to find the right place to stay at the right price.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

The first website was launched way back in 1997 and this is the time when websites were being introduced to the market, it was a site meant to give information to the intended traveler. The name was www.bigsafaris.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name comes from the company's name BIG SAFARI SERVICES LIMITED.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We highlight all the information needed for travelers and give considerable rates to all. We also put into consideration the need for students to have the best rates and also cater for the physically and mentally disabled, which most companies don't do.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To keep it for information and income.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It balances in the sense that, I put in income to make sure that my clients are comfortable thought their safari and keep time to enable them amply explore nature hence enjoying and therefore getting assurance of having them again.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I'd introduce a method in which people can be able to access my website even over phone so as to ensure transfer of information to everyone.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

When you are waiting for clients at the airport and get information that flights have been cancelled due to a natural calamity like a volcanic eruption as in the case of Iceland and having to loose all the payments due to last minutes cancellations.

What has been your biggest challenge?

To convince clients that it’s safe to travel to Kenya even after the past public occurrences that compromised the country's peace stability.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Web/internet marketing and attending world travel exhibitions.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It has been linking well with other sites.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

For two(2) years, I'll keep changing it until I get it to the standard of my satisfaction and expectation.

Replace this with a question of your own

Will you be visiting the Masai Mara during this spectacular wildebeest migration in August?

What is your website address?

Big Safari Services Limited
